Heidi and Scott are both in creative fields – the bride is an artist and the groom is a video game designer – so it’s no surprise that their wedding would be fanciful and unique. But the couple also wanted to make sure the day felt relaxed and real. From the groom’s top hat and tails to the bride’s “Man of Honor” to the most massive, mouthwatering candy bar (complete with wax lips and, of course, mustaches) Heidi and Scott’s wedding is equal parts fun and sweet. Heidi calls their theme “classy in the forest.” And despite the sweltering July day, the canopy of redwood trees enveloped the party in a shady forest wonderland splendidly captured in the dreamy, vintage inspired photos by Tahni Candelaria-Holm of Joyeuse Photography. Congrats to Heidi & Scott!
The boutonnieres were brass because Scott made Heidi a brass rose for their first Valentine’s Day together. Other DIY touches were the brass pendant seating “cards”, handmade seat pillows, menu signs and the candy buffet. Scott’s ring is made of carbon fiber.
From the bride: We got ready at a nearby vacation home before heading to the woods- it was 90 degrees that day, but luckily the shade of those tall redwoods helped. It was our officiant’s first wedding, but she did a great job. We had a strings version of “Love Train” for the recessional at the ceremony. And our food was provided by a local pizzeria with a mobile pizza oven. The pizzas were made right there and were amazing! The “Man of Honor” was my best friend from our service in the Peace Corps 10 years earlier. We planted a redwood sapling to commemorate our wedding and are looking forward to watching it grow.

What “woods” area in Santa Rosa is the setting for the wedding?

Hi Lora,
The reception was held in Griffith Woods – it’s a privately-owned redwood grove, but the owner(s) rent it out for weddings. Here’s their Yelp page: http://www.yelp.com/biz/griffith-woods-santa-rosa
Hope this helps!
