Color Combo: Marsala + Dusty Rose

Pantone 2015 Color of the Year Marsala Red and Rose Blush Green Dramatic Secret Garden Wedding PaletteThere’s a school of thought that 2015′s Pantone Color of the Year, deep-red Marsala, is too earthy for spring and summer. We couldn’t agree less! We think rich shades of wine, garnet and burgundy pair perfectly with silvery-green garden hues – and bring a masculine counterbalance to the oh-so-sweet blush and peach tones that continue to dominate the wedding runway for spring. We particularly love Marsala with a dusty rose or lilac for an elegant yet dramatic spring or summer garden wedding – think of a grown-up Secret Garden theme. What are your thoughts on this rich purpley-brown red? Too limiting? Or perfectly lovely?

Green & White Victorian Terrarium Fern Wedding Inspiration

Nothing is more heartening after a long winter than to see the first green shoots poking out of the bare ground! Inspired by March greenery (and these gorgeous fern-filled arboretum photos on Terrain’s blog) we channeled our spring fever into a Victorian greenhouse-influenced fern wedding inspiration board.

Top Posts of 2013: Most Popular Woodsy Wedding Colors

As we head into the New Year we’re looking back at our most popular past posts, from real weddings to rustic inspiration boards. Today we reflect on our top wedding palettes of 2013.

Turquoise and Coral

Having a woodsy themed wedding certainly doesn’t mean limiting yourself to a woodsy color palette! Shades of punchy coral and vintage-inspired robin’s egg blue add lively contrast to more subdued wood tones and natural fibers.

Red and White

We’re sensing a vintage vibe here: Our second most popular palette is a retro-inspired red and white combo. Taking a cue from Coca Cola, this pin-up-friendly palette would go perfectly with tea length dresses, soda pop favors and cherry pie.Cute, classic, and always refreshing, Coca Cola is the perfect inspiration for a retro red and white wedding.{ rustic strawberry wedding cake via Heart Love Weddings / retro red polka dot bridesmaid dresses by Aldy’s Creations / ampersand wedding invitations via Minted / Coca Cola cufflinks by Milkweed and Honey }

Peach, Sage and Brown

Soft shades of peach and blush were everywhere this year, and are on track to remain popular wedding colors in 2014. Paired with earthy sage and soft brown tones, our peach wedding palette would be gorgeous for a rustic barn wedding.

Tomato Red and Sunshine Yellow

Farmers market themes were a big wedding trend this year, and vibrant wildflower-inspired color palettes are the perfect complement. Our cheerful country chic red and yellow wedding palette is well suited for a warm summer wedding, whether in a backyard, on a farm or in a vineyard.Vintage Country Inspired Red and Yellow Wedding{ retro red bridesmaids / wedding lemonade and soda / yellow wedding invitations / red and yellow bout / bottle escort cards / bride in field / coreposis flowers / wedding pie / rustic aisle decor / wedding jam / tomato pie / red and yellow bridesmaid }

One of our most elegant color schemes, our rustic oxblood wedding palette pairs up this fall’s popular rich wine-red shade with leafy greens and snow white for a polished color combo ideal for a woodsy winter wedding, Thanksgiving feast or holiday party.Oxblood Wedding - Burgundy Wedding - Rustic Fall Wedding Colors - Rich Wedding Palette{ rustic rose invitations / burgundy wedding cake / oxblood bouquet / burgundy bridesmaid dress / oxblood oxfords / rustic oxblood centerpiece / burgundy table display / berry cocktails / wedding cake with flowers / rustic table setting / oxblood lips }
